
The meeting of the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) of the Defense Ministry is to be held on 3rd July i.e. Friday. According to sources, many big proposals related to defense procurement can be approved in this important meeting. The new Chief of Defense Staff, Army Chief and Navy Chief will attend the meeting.
According to sources, a decision can be taken on the purchase of indigenous ‘Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile’ (MP-ATGM) developed by DRDO for the Indian Army. Under this proposal, the army will get 100 launchers, 2,300 missiles and 5 simulators. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) will make this system. The estimated cost of this project is more than ₹2,600 crore.
Talks will be held on 600 ‘Hammers’ worth ₹2,400 crore
A proposal to purchase 600 ‘Hammer’ precision-guided air-to-ground weapons will also be considered to enhance the strike capability of the Indian Air Force and Navy. The estimated cost of this deal is approximately ₹2,400 crore. These ‘Hammer’ weapons developed by Safran of France will be manufactured in India in collaboration with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
These ‘Hammer’ weapons will be used by the Rafale and LCA Tejas fighter jets of the Indian Air Force, while they will also be installed in the Rafale-M aircraft of the Indian Navy.
Decision will also be taken on ‘Verba V-SHORADS’ made in Russia
In the meeting, a decision can also be taken on the purchase of ‘Verba V-SHORADS’ (Very Short Range Air Defense System) made in Russia to strengthen the air defense capability of the Indian Army. Adani Defense will manufacture these missiles in India. The ‘Verba’ missile system is a more advanced version of the ‘Igla’ missile system currently in use in the army.
From wing pseudo-satellites to submarines also considered
Apart from this, important proposals related to fixed-wing pseudo-satellite, naval shipborne aerial system, software-defined radio, kamikaze drone, drone detection system and Scorpene-class submarines can also be considered in the meeting. This meeting of DAC, which is being held after several months, is being considered very important in terms of increasing India’s defense preparedness and indigenous military capabilities.
