Debut with Kiara, father launched… the very first film sank the career of this star kid

Machine Actor Mustafa Burmawala: Many star kids entered Bollywood with big dreams, but not everyone got success. One such star kid debuted under the banner of his famous director father and got the support of an actress like Kiara Advani in his very first film. However, failure at the box office stopped his acting career right at the beginning. This star kid is none other than Mustafa Burmawala, son of Abbas Burmawala of the famous director duo Abbas-Mustan. He debuted in Bollywood as a lead actor with the romantic thriller film 'Machine' released in 2017. This film was directed by Abbas-Mustan themselves. Kiara Advani was seen in the lead role with Mustafa Burmawala in 'Machine'. The film was launched on a large scale and it was expected to give a new boost to Mustafa's career. But after release the audience did not like the film much. According to reports, the budget of 'Machine' was around Rs 30 crore. However, the film could collect only Rs 3.14 crore at the box office. This film with an IMDb rating of around 2.5 was considered a disaster at the box office. After the film flopped badly, Mustafa decided to step back from acting. He went to New York and took a course in film making and writing and started focusing on working behind the scenes instead of in front of the camera. Mustafa was associated with the film industry even before this. Before debuting as an actor, he worked as an assistant director in many films. This experience later came in handy in his journey of direction and scriptwriting. However, Mustafa did not leave acting completely. He appeared in short films like 'The Last Mile' and 'Unsaid Love'. Apart from this, he was also a part of TV series like 'Crime Beat' and 'Badnaam Kiya Hai' music video. Currently he is focusing on direction, script writing and web projects.
