At least seven people have been killed and 22 others injured in an Israeli attack targeting a funeral procession in the Gaza Strip. There has been no immediate comment on this matter from the Israeli Army. Awda Hospital, located in the Nusraat refugee camp, confirmed the number of casualties, saying people were targeted during the funeral procession of a Palestinian man killed in the attack earlier on Friday.
A ceasefire agreement was signed between Israel and Hamas in October to stop the war. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 1,123 people have died since the ceasefire came into force.
Most of those killed were women and children.
The health ministry, which operates under the Hamas-led government, keeps detailed records of casualties, which UN agencies and independent experts generally consider reliable. According to its records, the number of women and children is highest among those killed. The militants have opened fire targeting the soldiers.
Israel says its attacks were carried out in response to these actions and other violations of the ceasefire. According to Israel, five Israeli soldiers have been killed since the ceasefire came into force.
deliberately targeted children
According to media reports, an independent UN investigation has made serious allegations that Palestinian children were deliberately targeted in Gaza. On the other hand, Israel says that its military action is continuing in response to attacks on soldiers and ceasefire violations by Hamas and other armed groups. According to Israeli officials, five Israeli soldiers have also died since the ceasefire came into force.
War continues for three years
Let us tell you, this conflict started on 7 October 2023, when Southern Israel was attacked under the leadership of Hamas. According to Israeli figures, about 1200 people were killed in that attack and 251 people were taken hostage. At the same time, Gaza’s Health Ministry claims that since the beginning of the conflict, more than 73 thousand Palestinians have been killed, including those killed after the ceasefire.
