America and Iran have finally agreed to end the long-running dispute. The deal was digitally signed on June 14 (Sunday). Now the wait is to sit at the table face to face. On June 19, delegations from both the countries will sit in Switzerland and sign the MoU. Now the question is who is leading this entire deal on Iran’s side and whose pen will write the fate of Iran in Friday’s meeting. The second question is that now that the war is over and America is not attacking, then why is Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei not coming out?
First question, who signed the digital deal: Information in this regard has come from America. Media reports quoting American officials have claimed that among the digital signers were President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance from the US side. Whereas Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baghar Ghalibaf signed it on behalf of Iran. However, the name has not been confirmed by Iran. Speaker Ghalibaf himself wrote on Twitter on Monday – Iran has taken a big step towards final victory by making an agreement with America. Now there is also a question as to who will sign the deal in the meeting to be held in Switzerland on Friday (June 19). From the ceasefire till now, only Aragchi and Ghalibaf have been leading the entire conversation from Iran’s side. In the meeting held in Pakistan, Vance from the US side and Ghalibaf and Aragchi from the Iranian side were the main actors. In such a situation, it is expected that Ghalibaf, who has signed the digital signature, will be the important person at the Switzerland table.
Second question, where is Mujtaba Khamenei? Now that the agreement is being reached then why is Khamenei underground? From Iran’s side it is being said that whatever agreements are being made with America are being done according to the guidelines of Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei. Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian held a meeting with senior government officials in Tehran on June 15 (Monday). In this meeting, he congratulated the entire team doing the deal including Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Aragchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf. Pejeshkian described the deal as a victory for the unity, sympathy and coordination of all three branches of the Iranian government and armed forces. Along with this, Pejeshkian also said that the team being sent to sign the agreement will take decisions according to the guidelines and policies set by the leader of the Islamic Republic. That is, the President of Iran is clearly saying that whatever deal will be done, it will be according to Mojtaba Khamenei but no information has been shared regarding his presence.
Will Mujtaba be seen at the funeral?
If an agreement is reached on all issues between America and Iran in Switzerland on June 19, then the conflict is likely to end completely. Perhaps after this deal the situation in Iran will become normal. There is also information that former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be laid to rest in the first week of July. Iranian media reports claim that funeral rituals will begin on July 4, and Khamenei will be buried in his birthplace Mashhad on July 9. It is expected that Mujtaba Khamenei can attend his father’s last journey and appear before the world. On February 28, Supreme Leader Khamenei along with other family members was killed in the US-Iran attack. Since then till now, Mujtaba Khamenei has not come among the public. There have also been reports of his injury. Although, at the beginning of the war, America and Iran used to talk about the elimination of Mujtaba, but now America has softened down. Trump has also said that if Mujtaba wants to meet him, he can meet him. On the other hand, even after getting the chair of Supreme Leader, Mujtaba has not come out. He has addressed the public only through video message. In such a situation, in the event of an agreement with America, Mujtaba can be seen coming forward and taking charge of Iran.
