According to the report, the accused who attacked has been identified as 48-year-old Peter Michael Larson. During police interrogation, Peter confessed that he attacked the victim only because he was a Muslim. He also said that he wanted to kill Muslims.

According to eyewitnesses, Peter Michael came to Sohail, who was working in the mall, and asked him where he was from. On this he told that he is from India and his name is Sohail. After this the accused asked Sohail if he was a Muslim, Sohail replied yes. As soon as he heard what happened next, Peter took out a knife and attacked Sohail. The accused stabbed him more than 15 times. During this time there was chaos on the spot.
Sohail’s condition is critical
Sohail was seriously injured in this attack. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment, where his condition remains critical. Many knife wounds were found on Sohail’s body and he had lost a lot of blood. It is being told that it will take a lot of time for him to recover. He has undergone many surgeries. Police sent the accused to jail
During the attack, the people present in Valley Fair Mall somehow caught the accused Peter Michael and snatched his knife. After this, the police reached the spot and arrested him. He has been sent to Salt Lake County Jail on charges of attempt to murder and illegal use of weapon. Larson was on parole for a prior violent crime, according to court records. In the year 2022, he had set fire to his own house. He had threatened to shoot the fire brigade team that reached the spot. There was also firing during this period. He was sentenced to jail in this case.
