Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT) has detected a malware campaign that is targeting WhatsApp Desktop and WhatsApp Web users. Attackers are targeting users by sending dangerous file attachments through direct messages. The company says that this campaign uses hacked WhatsApp accounts to spread dangerous VBScript files.
The report includes screenshots of WhatsApp messages containing VBScript files, which show that the hackers have named the files like business documents. Once you click on this file, that is, as soon as this file opens, the malware enters your system.
Kaspersky researchers say that the names of the files are in English and other languages (such as Portuguese, French, German). Cyber security company claims that people have been victimized the most in many countries (Malaysia, Brazil, Singapore etc.). This type of malware can also come to India and target you, for this it is important that you take special care not to make the mistake of clicking on any attachment received from an unknown number on WhatsApp.
