
Tension between America and Cuba has increased again. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that Cuba is a threat to America’s national security. He also said that the chances of a peace agreement between the two countries are very less at present. However, he made it clear that America still wants a solution through dialogue.
Rubio’s statement came a day after the US accused former Cuban President Rod Castro of murder in the 1996 downing of two planes and the deaths of American citizens. In that incident, two planes of the organization named Brothers to the Rescue were shot down, in which four people died. America says that that action was ordered by Raul Castro.
Plan to arrest Raul Castro
When reporters asked Rubio whether the United States would try to arrest Raul Castro and bring him to America, he said that he would not reveal his plan to the media. Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche said that America hopes that Castro will appear in court on his own free will or in some other way.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla called Rubio’s allegations false. He said that Cuba never posed a threat to America. He also alleged that Rubio was trying to instigate military action. Cuba also rejected America’s allegation that Cuba is among the countries promoting terrorism.

At present Cuba is going through a serious economic crisis. There is a huge shortage of fuel in the country. The situation has become worse due to the American oil blockade. There are prolonged power cuts in many areas. People are facing shortage of food items and essential items.
Rubio said that America had offered Cuba humanitarian aid worth $100 million and Cuba had accepted it. Whereas US President Donald Trump called Cuba a failed country. Trump said that his government wants to help Cuba on humanitarian grounds. He also said that people of Cuban origin living in America want to see their country successful. Trump also said that in the last 50-60 years, many American presidents have tried regarding Cuba, but now perhaps his government can do something big.
Cuban military officer’s sister arrested in US
Meanwhile, Rubio told that America has arrested a woman named Adis Lastres Moreira. She is the sister of a senior official of the Cuban military company GAESA. Rubio alleges that she was helping the Cuban communist government even while living in Florida. At present he has been kept in custody and action is being taken against him to send him out of the country.
