During a program on the occasion of completion of 200 years of Hindi journalism, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that journalism is not just about data, but it is the responsibility to preserve human sensitivities as well. During his address at the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), Delhi, Scindia said that the press had to face censorship and lack of resources in the colonial era. But in today’s time, due to Artificial Intelligence and Deepfake technology, the challenges are different. The biggest problem here is trust.
Scindia said that my great grandfather…(Jivajirao Madhavrao Scindia) had started ‘Jayaji Pratap’ in Gwalior state to spread awareness. We had a printing press in Gwalior, which I am now trying to convert into an old industrial museum. I will also keep the old press there. The Union Minister said that then, his daughter-in-law, former Rajmata Sahiba, started ‘Swadesh’ in the Gwalior palace complex. Therefore, our family may not have the intellectual skills that all of you (experienced journalists) have but I assure you that it is definitely closely related to you.

Seminar is being organized for two days
Scindia belongs to the former princely state, where its forts and many other places still attract tourists. A seminar was organized here for two days from 30th May. It is being organized by Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA) and Madhavrao Sapre Memorial Newspaper Museum and Research Institute, Bhopal. This event is being organized on the occasion of completion of 200 years of publication of the first Hindi newspaper ‘Udant Martand’ published in India on May 30, 1826.
crisis of trust between people
Scindia said that the challenges were different in that period. Censorship was a big challenge. A whole mechanism was working to limit press freedom. Resources were also very limited. But today, 200 years later, the challenges are different. There has already been an explosion of information. The era of Artificial Intelligence has arrived. He told that the biggest crisis of this era is of credibility. The problem of lack of trust among people has arisen due to false narratives, deepfake technology, misinformation and manipulation of videos.
