To improve the experience of users using WhatsApp, new features keep getting added to the app, now new usernames are being added to the app. With the introduction of this feature, users will get the benefit that you will be able to chat without sharing your number with anyone. If a person is unknown to you but you want to talk with that person on WhatsApp, then you will be able to share the username. Each account can have one username, your phone number will be linked to your account for sign-in and recovery, but it won’t be visible to people who contact you using your username.
WhatsApp has recently started rolling out the username feature for some Android and iOS users, gradually this feature will be available to everyone. You can also get this feature soon, once this feature becomes available, you will be able to set the username by following the steps given below.
Setup WhatsApp Username like this
- First of all, open WhatsApp on your Android or iPhone. After opening the app, go to the settings of the app.
- After going to Settings, tap on your profile name at the top of the page to open account details. After this, when the username option appears in the profile settings menu, select it.
- After this enter the username which you want to use for your WhatsApp account. Username must be 3 to 35 characters long, contain at least one letter, and can only contain letters, numbers, periods, and underscores.
- Once you enter a valid username, WhatsApp will automatically check whether the username is available or not.
- If the username is available, tap Save or Done to confirm your selection.
