Country’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone to be built in Gwalior, MoU signed between Center and MP

The Central Government has given a big gift to Madhya Pradesh as well as the country. An MoU was signed on Thursday between the state government and the Center for the establishment of the country’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior. During this, Union Communications and North Eastern Region Development Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav were present. Gwalior has got this historic gift due to the efforts of Scindia and the cooperation of the Chief Minister.

On this occasion, Union Minister Scindia said that the establishment of the country’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone in Gwalior is a historic achievement for both Madhya Pradesh and the country. This project will give new momentum to the resolve of Self-reliant India, Make in India, Digital India and Developed India 2047 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With this, the country will get a new identity in the field of global telecom manufacturing. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the state is rapidly moving on the path of industrial development and self-reliance. This TMZ is a powerful symbol of the same visionary leadership and development-oriented thinking.

Telecom Manufacturing Zone will be built in 350 acres

Scindia said that we have to move from a service provider to a producer in the field of telecom. To become productive, we must have an indigenous ecosystem. This Telecom Manufacturing Zone is a big achievement in that direction. This project of the Department of Telecommunications will be developed on the state-of-the-art Plug-and-Play model in an area of ​​about 350 acres in Gwalior.

He informed that the Central Government has approved financial assistance of ₹ 500 crore for the basic infrastructure development of the first phase of the project. A world-class industrial ecosystem for telecom manufacturing will be developed in the country’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone.

Let us tell you that in this integrated complex, advanced facilities for research, development and manufacturing of mobile phones, network equipment, fiber optics, semiconductor, 5G and 6G technologies will be developed. Having everything from research to design, test and production in one campus will give new momentum and global identity to the country’s telecom sector.

Investment up to ₹35000 thousand crore

Scindia said that the total investment from this project in Madhya Pradesh is estimated to be ₹ 35 thousand crore. This will create more than 14 thousand employment opportunities. In the first phase alone, approximately ₹ 2 thousand crores are being invested by leading companies like Dixon Technologies, HFCL and Tejas Networks. For effective operation and implementation of the project, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed with 51 percent participation of Madhya Pradesh Government and 49 percent participation of Department of Telecommunications.
