Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, in Bratislava, Slovakia, agreed to increase cooperation between the two countries in areas ranging from defence, technology to AI. PM Modi Addressing the joint press meet, he said that I am happy that on this historic occasion, we have decided to give the status of comprehensive partnership to our relations. I express my special gratitude to the Prime Minister for the cooperation received from Slovakia in finalizing the India-EU FTA.
He said that we will work to implement it as soon as possible so that industries, startups and traders of both the countries can take maximum advantage of it.
PM Modi Said that I am happy that India Chair on the subject of AI is being established in a university in Slovakia. Our shared vision is that AI should become a powerful medium for the service and progress of humanity. We believe that the future of AI should not be based only on innovation, but on trust, responsibility and human dignity.
Letter of Intent signed between the two countries
He said that the deep cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries provide a strong foundation to our relations. The translation of India’s ancient Upanishads into Slovak language is an excellent example of our cultural closeness.

PM Modi said that people of Indian origin living in Slovakia are making important contributions to the economy and society here. Defense cooperation is a testament to our deep mutual trust and strategic convergence. I am happy that today we signed the Letter of Intent in this important area.
He said that this will give new impetus to cooperation between joint development, joint production and defense industries. In 2017, Slovakia’s first satellite was launched by India. Today, India’s space sector is rapidly reaching new heights. I invite Slovak companies to join this journey of growth and development.
Agreement reached on EU FTA, AI and defense cooperation
On this occasion, Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico said, “The Slovak Republic and India are countries that are connected by many common topics. I would like to congratulate India on the excellent results that you are achieving.
He said that it is a great honor for me to welcome the PM of the country with the world’s largest population, but also a country which is the fifth largest economy in the world, and which dreams of becoming the third largest economy in the world.
He said that I congratulate you for the results you have achieved in different areas. You are prominent in the field of digitalization and use of AI. You have come so far that you are faster than many advanced countries in different parts of the world. We are struggling in the EU. What can the EU do if we can achieve 6-7% growth? He said that India should get a permanent member ship in the Security Council.
