Constitution Killing Day should be celebrated every year like Ravana Dahan… CM Rekha Gupta’s attack on Congress

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, speaking at a seminar on ‘Black Emergency Day’ on Friday, said that this day should be celebrated every year, just like Ravana Dahan is celebrated on Dussehra. Rekha Gupta said that the way Ravana Dahan is observed every year. Similarly, Constitution Killing Day should also be observed every year, because it reminds us that the people of this country will never allow an injustice like Emergency to happen again.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Said that burning the effigy of Ravana every year symbolizes the victory of truth over lies and good over evil. CM Gupta said, “Similarly, Samvidhan Hatiya Diwas (Constitution Killing Day) is remembered so that the coming generations know about this chapter of history and no leader should dare to repeat such an act.”

CM Rekha Gupta’s attack on Rahul Gandhi

Attacking opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, Gupta said, “Democracy is not the slave of those who carry a copy of the Constitution in their pocket and claim that ‘democracy is being murdered’.”

The Chief Minister said that leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan and Atal Bihari Vajpayee never lost courage and kept the spirit of democracy alive even in the most difficult times. At the event, Delhi BJP honored 115 democracy fighters (political activists arrested during the Emergency).

Smriti Irani took on Congress

Former Union Minister Smriti Irani said the youth should know what happened during the Emergency as Congress leaders spread “misunderstanding” from Parliament to the streets and claimed that they were the true protectors of the Constitution.

He said, “There is no mention of what happened to women during the Emergency because the atrocities against them have been erased from the pages of the history of the Emergency.” The Congress government led by the then Indira Gandhi had imposed emergency from June 25, 1975 to March 21, 1977.

Congress strangled the Constitution… Harsh Malhotra

Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra said that the young generation, which did not see that era, should understand the thinking of the Congress party at that time and also that those who talk about the Constitution today had once “strangled” it.

He said that the Constitution of India, an independent judiciary, a free press, an active civil society and an informed citizen are the strongest pillars of democracy. They show that he said that no matter how powerful the government is, in a democracy the final decision rests with the people.
