
Congress Party has appointed three leaders as observers to take stock of the current political situation in Punjab and submit a report. These include Ajay Maken, Meenakshi Natarajan and Bhajan Lal Jatav. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has given him this responsibility with immediate effect. This decision has been taken at a time when a few days ago Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel had said that there is no need to change the leadership in the state. He had said that all the leaders will fight the assembly elections to be held next year together. Bhupesh Baghel said this on June 2 to Congress President Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Said after the meeting with Venugopal.

‘Congress takes everyone along’
When asked about speculations about change of leadership in Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Baghel had said, “I had said a few days ago that there has been no discussion on this. Congress moves forward by taking everyone along. We will move forward by taking everyone along. He said that these are just media speculations. There was no discussion regarding the leadership, no change is taking place.”
Regarding Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding, Baghel said that he is the PCC chief and the next elections in the state will be fought under the leadership of Kharge and Gandhi. He said that the state leadership will fight the elections together. Elections are to be held in Punjab early next year.
On Thursday, Kharge called a meeting of all Congress general secretaries, in-charges and state Congress presidents. The current political situation was discussed in the meeting. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal attended the meeting. Apart from this, Gaurav Gogoi of Assam, Harish Chaudhary of Madhya Pradesh, Bomma Maheshkumar Gaur of Telangana, Girish Chodankar of Goa and Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding of Punjab also came to the meeting.
