The round of allegations and counter-allegations continues between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Now Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday rejected DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statement in which he had said that Congress was behind BJP’s victory. DMK has faced a crushing defeat in the recently concluded elections.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, the Union Minister said, “In a democracy, the people are the biggest leader. They decide who they will elect. Because of DMK’s misgovernance and its anti-people politics, they have lost the trust of the people of Tamil Nadu. Now out of frustration, they are saying such things.” The BJP leader also stressed that the people of the country have continuously rejected the Congress party.
What did Udhayanidhi Stalin say about Congress?
Earlier, while addressing a meeting of DMK youth wing organizers, former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had said that earlier he felt that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were responsible for the continuous success of BJP, but now he has come to the conclusion that the real reason behind the party’s victories is Congress.
Responding to Youth Congress protests demanding his and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation over the NEET-UG paper leak issue, Union Minister Pradhan said that the Prime Minister fulfills his responsibilities with the public mandate and not at the mercy of the opposition.
Taking a dig at Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Pradhan further said, “If he feels that running this country is his ‘zamindari’ or his ‘jagir’. Unfortunately for him, the people of the country decided otherwise in the recent elections.”
Talking about the concerns regarding the technical glitch on the CBSE portal, Dharmendra Pradhan, who is on a visit to IIT Madras, assured that the government has taken the issue seriously and it has now been resolved. There was a technical glitch in the CBSE portal recently, which affected Class 12 students, especially those who had applied for revaluation.
TN government will work closely with the Centre: Pradhan
“Experts from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur are investigating aspects of this technical glitch,” Dharmendra Pradhan said, adding that the portal is now working smoothly.
Asked about Tamil Nadu’s cooperation in the Centre’s initiatives, the Union Minister welcomed the political change in the state and extended a hand of cooperation to the new government in the state. Pradhan said, “I welcome the decision of the people of the state. I welcome the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Vijay. I hope that under his leadership, he will work closely with PM Narendra Modi, who is committed to developing this country in an integrated manner.”
Given Tamil Nadu’s standoff with the previous government and the Centre, he also said the central government looks forward to detailed discussions with the new state administration in the true “constitutional spirit”.
