Complete system of donation in Ram temple, how the money offered reaches the bank account

June 20, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Every day lakhs of devotees reach the Ram temple of Ayodhya for darshan. The offerings coming to the temple go through the donation boxes and reach the trust’s bank account under a fixed process. To make this entire system transparent and secure, arrangements for monitoring and verification have been made at many levels. To have darshan of Ramlala, devotees reach the sanctum sanctorum in four different queues. About one to one and a half lakh devotees visit the temple every day, hence the traffic is completely controlled. After darshan, donation boxes have been placed at the exit points of each queue, where devotees offer cash, coins, gold, silver and jewellery. About 40 donation boxes are installed in the entire temple complex.

How much is offered every day?

On normal days, the temple receives offerings worth around Rs 8 to 13 lakh every day. At the same time, during festivals, special events and crowded days, this amount increases to Rs 50 to 60 lakh. Donation boxes are opened only when they are full. The presence of at least four authorized persons is mandatory during this process.

These include-

– Temple Trust representative
– Representatives of State Bank of India (SBI)
– Support staff involved in the calculation process
– Technical and operational support personnel

The objective of this system is to ensure multi-level verification at the initial stage of opening the donation box.

How does the amount reach the counting centre?

The amount withdrawn from donation boxes is kept in safe iron containers. After this, they are taken to the Passenger Facilitation Center located about 200 meters away through special trolleys. The entire process takes place under CCTV surveillance. The offerings collected from all the 40 donation boxes of the temple are taken to the central counting room located in the basement of this centre.

Calculation is done in two shifts

– Movement is limited during the shift
– Only scheduled and controlled holidays are allowed

monitoring and control system

All monitoring of the entire system is said to be under Trust member Anil Mishra. At the operational level, SBI and technical support personnel handle the system.

in each shift

– one shift in charge
– One supervisor for four to five enumerators
– Bank personnel, trust representatives and local associates
remain present.

How is counting done?

Donated material is divided into different categories

– currency note
– coins
– Gold, silver and other valuables

Each category is counted by enumerators posted at designated counters. The entire process is conducted under physical surveillance and prescribed protocols.

bank deposit process

After the calculations are completed, the cash is sealed in special containers of the bank. After this the amount is sent daily to the branch of State Bank of India. After re-verification by the bank, the amount is deposited in the trust account.

fully digital payment system

The financial system of Ram Mandir Trust is completely based on digital model. The Trust does not have a check book system and all payments are made through online transfer directly into bank accounts. That is, the donation put in the donation box by the devotee reaches the trust’s account after going through several levels of monitoring, calculation, verification and banking process.
