Karnataka News: The anger of citizens against bad roads and potholes in Bengaluru city, which is called the ‘Silicon Valley’ of the country, often remains in the headlines. But this time a young businessman from West Bengaluru has found a very creative and different way to attract the attention of the administration and public representatives. Dhananjay Bhandarkar, a 34-year-old engineer and businessman living in Rudrappa Layout near Peenya, has made a video of himself running on the bad and dusty road of his area, which is going viral on the internet.
It has been more than 10 years since Rudrappa Layout was built and more than 20 families reside here. Of the entire 1.7 km long layout road, only the first 200 meters is paved (asphalt), while the remaining 1.5 km of the road is filled with stones and flying dust for the last two years. Officials had assured that asphalting would be done as soon as the Cauvery drinking water pipeline work is completed, but even after a year has passed since getting the water connection, the condition of the road remains the same.
Appeal to Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and local MLA
When there was no hearing on online complaints, Dhananjay chose this new path of protest. Dhananjay met Bengaluru in-charge and Urban Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Yeshwantpur local MLA S.T. To attract Somashekhar’s attention, he turned his daily jogging into a medium of protest.
Why chose a unique method?
Dhananjay says that often no one pays attention to the video of people complaining while standing on the roadside, so he made the video while running so that the matter could reach the higher authorities. Their only objective is to make this road concrete. He said that if the administration does not take immediate action, then next time he will register his protest by making a video of himself doing a ‘handstand’ (standing upside down on his hands) on the same bad road.
