In Bihar, an elderly man who cannot even walk on his own has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment. A court in the state’s Vaishali district sentenced five members of a family, including an 85-year-old man, to jail in a 34-year-old attempt to murder case. Besides, fine has also been imposed on the culprits. The special thing is that during the case that lasted for more than 3 decades, 4 accused died.
District and Additional Sessions Judge-I Manoj Kumar Tiwari, in his decision on Tuesday, sentenced each of the four convicts to 10 years of jail, while 85-year-old Deepa Rai was given a jail sentence of 3 years. However, Deepa Rai was granted interim bail in view of her old age. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on all the five convicts – Deepa Rai as well as Jagdish Rai, Nagdev Rai, Naresh Rai and Nakashwar Rai.

Additional Public Prosecutor Khawaja Hasan Khan said, “The conviction was made under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 148 and 307, as well as section 27 of the Arms Act. The court granted interim bail to elderly convict Deepa Rai.” This entire matter is related to an incident that took place on November 10, 1992 in Juravaanpur village.

During this time, the accused person started scattering glass pieces on the road just in front of their house. The accused armed with different types of weapons suddenly opened fire on them. Due to the firing, Adalat Rai and his wife suffered serious injuries. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. 9 persons were made accused in this case. Was.
Chargesheet in firing case 6 months after the incident
The additional public prosecutor said the police filed a charge sheet in March 1993, and charges were formally framed on June 17, 1999. After a long hearing, the court had fixed March 26 as the date for delivering the verdict. That day, the five persons who were tried in this case were declared guilty in the court. Today, the court decided the quantum of punishment. Four convicts were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each.
Apart from this, he was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment under the Arms Act. He told that as far as Deepa Rai is concerned, whose age is 85 years. However, the court has sentenced him to 3 years imprisonment. He also got bail from the court.
