‘Cockroach’ story in kBC 16
In this sequence, an interesting incident happened in an episode of KBC 16. The issue of cockroach broke out unexpectedly. A female contestant named Pranathi from Bangalore, who was sitting on the front hot seat, was the first to raise the discussion about cockroaches. After this Amitabh Bachchan started narrating an interesting story of cockroach. The people sitting in the audience gallery were rolling in tears after listening to it. The woman sitting on the hot seat in front was also in a very bad mood. But this thing was started by Amitabh Bachchan himself. He asked the woman sitting on the hot seat- “Who counts the legs of a spider? How did you know that it has eight legs?”

Who is not afraid of ‘cockroach’!
On this the woman said- “You are right, sir. Cockroach also had the same confusion.” After this Amitabh starts narrating a story related to cockroach. He says – “We are very afraid of cockroaches. I run away from cockroaches. Who is there in the world who is not afraid of cockroaches. But that cockroach is very healthy. Whatever you do, it does not die. I have done a lot of tests etc. with it. Many people say that it dies with a kind of powder. I thought it should be tested.”
What Amitabh Bachchan narrates after this is even more interesting. He says- “Once I put cockroach killing powder in a bottle of water and caught a cockroach and put it in that bottle. I thought it would die in it. But you will be surprised to know that after a week when I opened the lid of the bottle, the same cockroach was the first one to come out.” After this, loud laughter was heard once again.
That conversation with ‘bugs’ before ‘cockroach’
It is also worth mentioning that along with the cockroach incident, Amitabh Bachchan also came into limelight due to his dialogue with insects. He had said such an interesting dialogue related to insects in one of his blockbuster movies that that dialogue also became quite popular at that time. That film of Amitabh was- Hum (HUM). It was the early nineties. Amitabh Bachchan was a young protagonist in that film released in 1991. While under the influence of alcohol he says to Gonsalves- “Gonsalves, there are two types of worms in the world. One type of worm arises from the gutter… the garbage… and the other type of worm arises from the heap of filth of sin… Look… this worm from the garbage… makes a person sick… but the worm that lives in the heap of filth of sin makes the entire society sick.“
This popular dialogue of Amitabh Bachchan is not limited to this. The part after this is even more deadly. Drunk Amitabh keeps saying- “Fleet etc. are sold in the market to kill the insects living in the garbage… but till date no fleet has been made to kill the insects living in the heap of sins… till date…” After this, Amitabh makes a strong mockery… as if he is taking a dig at the gap between rich and poor in the society. This incident and this dialogue of the film is also unique because Amitabh speaks the same dialogue in three ways in this film. The second style is different from the first style, so for the third time he speaks the same dialogue in English.

The director of the film was- Mukul S. Pleasure. Rajinikanth was also in a special role in the film along with Govinda.
