
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta along with a large number of youth, volunteers, social organizations and local citizens volunteered in the Clean Delhi with CM cleanliness campaign organized at Yamuna Ghat in Chilla village on Sunday. The Chief Minister himself participated in the cleaning campaign at the ghat and gave the message of public participation to the people for clean Yamuna.
on this occasion CM Rekha Gupta Said that Yamuna is not just a river, but the memory, culture and life stream of Delhi. Making it clean, pure and uninterrupted is not only the responsibility of the government, but it is the collective responsibility of every citizen. Yamuna, which has been the center of faith of crores of people for centuries, is today facing the challenge of pollution, making it clean and pure is the joint responsibility of the government as well as the society.
Now no drain will fall into Yamuna without treatment
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government is continuously working for the revival of Yamuna on a scientific, sustainable and comprehensive level and Swachh Ghats are a living proof of that resolve. On the one hand, under scientific and sustainable solutions, the Delhi government is rapidly working on modernization of sewage treatment plants, establishment of new decentralized sewage treatment plants, expansion of sewer network and tapping of all the drains falling into Yamuna in a phased manner.
He expressed confidence that in future no drain will directly fall into Yamuna without treatment. On the other hand, Yamuna is giving the form of a mass movement to social awareness towards cleanliness.
Special centers will be built for puja materials
Praising the youth and volunteers present, the Chief Minister said that only awareness can bring the biggest change in the society. He urged people not to discharge puja material, plastic, construction debris and other waste into Yamuna and take active participation in making cleanliness a mass movement.
Delhi Government is setting up special collection centers (Porta Cabins) in various areas for respectful disposal of puja materials and broken idols, from where their scientific and systematic recycling will be ensured. This will also respect religious sentiments and ensure effective waste management.
The Chief Minister announced that the Delhi government will organize public interest campaigns like cleanliness drive, Yamuna cleaning campaign or tree plantation every Sunday to further strengthen public participation. Calling upon the citizens to actively participate in these campaigns, he said that only with the joint efforts of the government and the society, the resolution of clean, clear and uninterrupted Yamuna will be realized.
Participation of youth in Yamuna cleaning, CM appreciated
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also interacted with volunteers and youth associated with environmental protection during the cleanliness campaign. The volunteers told them that by recycling the plastic waste collected during the campaign, benches, dustbins and other useful products related to environment protection can be prepared for schools.
Praising this innovative idea, the Chief Minister said that the Delhi government will provide all possible support to such innovations and circular economy based efforts. At the same time, a young environmental activist told the Chief Minister that he is inspired by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is associated with the Yamuna Conservation Campaign and even during his leisure time, he works for cleaning the river and creating public awareness.
Delhi government will increase public participation for clean Yamuna
Appreciating his commitment, the Chief Minister said that the enthusiasm of such youth is the biggest strength of Swachh Bharat and Swachh Yamuna campaign. He assured that the government will work together with all such efforts.
Expressing gratitude to all the volunteers and social organizations involved in the campaign, the Chief Minister said that the Delhi Government considers public participation as the biggest strength of this campaign. With the joint efforts of the government and the society, this campaign will become a big mass movement and the resolve to make Delhi a clean, green and developed capital will get new momentum.
