At the same time, DCP Sachin Sharma of Delhi Police clearly said that CJP has neither sought nor been given any permission from Delhi Police for Monday’s march.
New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma said that it is being circulated on social media and many reports are also coming that CJP’s march to Parliament is on Monday, hence no permission has been sought from Delhi Police for this nor has it been given.
He said that Section 163 is applicable in entire Delhi except the protest site, under which gathering of 5 or more people is illegal. If anyone violates section 163, legal action will be taken against him.
ban on demonstration without permission
In a statement issued by Delhi Police, it has been said that public meetings, demonstrations, processions and gathering of 5 or more people have been banned in the Parliament Street Sub-Division area of New Delhi. The police has issued this order keeping in mind law and order, traffic and people’s safety. Sloganeering, speeches, banners-posters, carrying weapons or sticks without permission will also be prohibited.
According to Delhi Police, this order will remain effective till August 22, 2026. However, the designated protest site of Jantar Mantar has been kept out of this order, but demonstrations can be held there only with written permission and permission will not be valid after 5 pm.
CJP has called this march to protest against the alleged irregularities in the NEET exam and to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Delhi Police issued advisory
The advisory warns that any person violating the stoppage orders can be prosecuted under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and other applicable laws. Sharma said, “Delhi Police appeals to all citizens to respect the law, avoid participating in any unauthorized gathering or march and cooperate in maintaining public peace and security.”
According to police sources, security arrangements have been strengthened with deployment of additional personnel, multi-layer barricades and rapid checking of vehicles at main entry points in the capital.
Sources said the CJP had not taken permission for the proposed march and the police would not allow any unauthorized procession towards the high-security Parliament area. He said that precautionary deployment will continue during the entire Parliament session. Authorities have designated several places in New Delhi, Central Delhi and parts of North Delhi as high-security zones, which includes enhanced CCTV surveillance, anti-sabotage checks and round-the-clock patrolling.
