
Deities during Chaturmas: Chaturmas is considered to have special significance in Hindu religion. Chaturmas is the time when Lord Vishnu, who maintains the universe, goes into yoga nidra for four months. Chaturmas includes the months of Sawan, Bhadrapada, Ashwin and Kartik. All these months are considered very important from religious point of view. No auspicious or auspicious work is done during Chaturmas. Many fasts and festivals take place during these four months. Every year, the day of Devshayani Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month is considered to be the beginning of Chaturmas.
It is believed that Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra from this Ekadashi. Then on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi falling in the month of Kartik, we wake up from yoga nidra. According to Drik Panchang, this year Devshayani Ekadashi is on 25th July and Chaturmas will start from this day, which will end on 20th November on Devuthani Ekadashi of Kartik Shukla Paksha. This period lasts for about 4 months i.e. about 119 days. After Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra, Guru, Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesha, Pitru Dev, Maa Durga, Goddess Lakshmi and rivers govern the creation.
Chaturmas and the responsibility of creation
Guru and Shiv Ji
This year, after Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra on 25th July, the work of creation will be in the hands of the Gurus for four days. Guru will take charge of Srishti till 29th July. Guru Purnima will be celebrated on this day. After this, the holy month of Saavan is going to start from 30th July. This month will continue till 28th August. Special worship of Lord Shiva is done in this month. Lord Shiva takes charge of the creation in the month of Sawan.
Lord Ganesha and Krishna Ji
Then from Janmashtami in the month of Bhadrapada, Lord Krishna takes charge of the creation. This year Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 04 September 2026. God takes charge of the creation for 10 days. After this, Ganesh Chaturthi will start on 14th September. This festival will last for 10 days. During this time, the command of creation is in the hands of Lord Ganesha.
Pitru Dev, Goddess Durga, Mother Lakshmi and rivers
In the year 2026, Prit Paksha will run from 26 September to 10 October 2026. During this time, Pitru Dev looks after the work of the universe. After this, Shardiya Navratri will start on 11th October. This will run till 19th October. During this time, Goddess Durga looks after the responsibility of creation. During the great festival of Diwali in the month of November, Goddess Lakshmi takes the responsibility of running the universe. After this the rivers govern this universe.
Finally, on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi of Kartik Shukla Paksha, Lord Vishnu wakes up from his four months of yoga sleep. This year, on November 20, the Lord of Devuthani Ekadashi will rise and take charge of the creation again. After this, the auspicious works of marriage will start again.
