June 26, 2026 by Uma Shankar

In a major action against organized crime, the police in Calgary city of Alberta province of Canada have busted a criminal network allegedly targeting the South Asian community. In this operation, 16 Indian citizens have been arrested, on whom a total of 56 criminal charges have been imposed. However, the Calgary Police has not yet clarified whether the arrested accused are associated with any international gang like Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldie Brar or Rohit Godara network. It is noteworthy that in recent years, the names of these gangs have been appearing in many criminal cases in Canada.

According to the police, this network was involved in extortion by threatening people, firing, violent incidents, use of weapons and other serious crimes. This action was taken after connecting the investigations of different cases.

Investigating agencies say that the accused used to try to extort money from people by creating an atmosphere of fear and violence. In many cases the victims were threatened with weapons. The investigation has also revealed cases related to kidnapping conspiracy, destruction of evidence of crime and use of illegal weapons.

The police have also made public the photographs of some of the accused and have appealed to the people to share information regarding their identity or activities. Officials say that many of the accused are known by different names and aliases, which can make their identification challenging.

How were the weapons and clues found?

Ravjot Toor, 20, was arrested during a traffic checking. It has been claimed that banned weapons, cartridges and cocaine have been recovered from him. He has been charged with several serious charges including illegal possession of weapons, possession of unlicensed weapons, carrying weapons in a vehicle, possession of weapons related to crime, concealment of weapons and possession of drugs. Police believe that the items recovered from him may also be related to an earlier shooting.

Many accused in the shooting of March 2026

In the investigation of a firing that took place in Calgary in March 2026, the names of Germanjit Singh alias German Singh (22), Jaskaran Singh alias Jassi Buttar (21) and Karanbir Singh alias Karan Singh (21) have emerged. Of these, Jarmanjeet Singh has been declared wanted. All three are accused of firing in a manner that endangered people’s lives.

The investigation also revealed that an attempt was made to destroy evidence by setting fire to a vehicle used in the firing. In this case, Amandeep Singh alias Shiva Singh (21), Anurag Sidhu (21) and Ishandeep Singh (19) have been charged with arson.

Extortion network exposed

Amandeep Malhi alias Harman Gill (39) and Sandeep Singh (32) were arrested in an extortion case that came to light in May 2026. Both are accused of demanding money by threatening people and keeping money related to crime.

Kidnapping conspiracy also revealed

The police have also exposed an alleged kidnapping plan. In this case, action has been taken against Daksh Gautam (25), Akashdeep Singh (19), Gagandeep Singh alias Gaggi Singh alias Guggi (29), Pardeep Singh (24) and Taranveer Singh (24). They are accused of kidnapping people with the help of weapons, taking them hostage and conspiring to attack.

Arrest in another firing case

Gurkaran Dhaliwal (21) has been arrested in a separate shooting incident. He has been accused of carelessly handling weapons and possessing illegal weapons. The Calgary Police Service says the investigation is still ongoing and other people associated with this network are being identified. The police is now trying to find out from where this network was getting weapons and funding and whether it has connections with any big organized criminal gang.

Police have appealed to the people that if they have any information about the accused or anyone associated with them, they should immediately inform the police or Crime Stoppers. Officials say that the campaign against organized crime and violent activities will continue.
