
After the change of government in West Bengal, railway projects have gained momentum. During the Kolkata visit, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced several railway projects including starting Bullet Train from Siliguri and 60 Next Gen Metro. The Railway Minister also told about the huge amount given for Bengal which is almost knocking at the door. He also gave detailed information about how much is being spent and which projects are being worked on.
He said, “During the time of UPA government, 4000 crores were given for Bengal and PM Narendra Modi has given 14205 crores. Now the work of giving NOC, solution to the problem of land acquisition has started. In future, everyone will work together and faster.”
Talking about the railway outline for Bengal Railway Minister Said, “There will be 102 new Amrit Bharat stations, out of which work has been completed on 10 stations. Vande Bharat Sleeper was first introduced in Bengal. 9 Vande Bharat Express are running in Bengal. 13 Amrit Bharat are running.”
Bullet train will start from Siliguri
The Railway Minister said that Bengal is now also getting Bullet Train. The Prime Minister has made a plan to start bullet train in West Bengal. This bullet train will run from Delhi to Siliguri via Varanasi-Patna. Now you can comfortably reach Siliguri from Delhi in 6 hours. 60 new next generation trains will be brought for Kolkata Metro. Also, freight corridor is being started from east to west. It will run from Dankuni to Surat.”
Besides, he also claimed that 100 percent electrification of railways has been completed in West Bengal. The railways will run at a faster speed on the shoulders of the double engine government.
Within a month of the change of government, a meeting of Railway Minister and Chief Minister was held in Nabanna. Bengal is getting bullet train. MLAs were also present in this high-profile meeting. Land transfer and administrative clearance were discussed. 62 stalled projects got green signal.
Questions raised on the role of Trinamool government
Within a month of the change of government in Bengal, railway work has gained momentum. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari criticized the previous government and said that the government was not cooperating. Due to this many railway projects were stalled.
Supporting the Chief Minister’s words, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also raised many questions on the role of the previous Trinamool government. He clearly said, “The previous government had stopped the development of railways. The Trinamool government had gone to the Supreme Court to ensure that the people of Kolkata did not get the benefit of Metro Rail. I will see that the changes that have taken place in Bengal today fulfill the Prime Minister’s dream.”
