
Calcutta High Court has banned the demolition of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s Amtala party office. The court said that no further action can be taken till further orders. This order was given by Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary of Calcutta High Court. Abhishek Banerjee had approached the Calcutta High Court on Saturday in the Amtala party office bulldozer case. His lawyer requested for urgent hearing on Sunday, a holiday.
Earlier the hearing was to start at 12 noon, but due to the absence of the government lawyer, the hearing could not be held on time. Later, the hearing resumed at 1:30 pm in the court room of Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary. After this, the court put a stay on the demolition of Abhishek Banerjee’s office for some time.
What were the allegations regarding Amtala office?
There have been repeated allegations that in Amtala Abhishek Banerjee The party office has been built illegally. Before the change of power in the state, a person named Sushant Mandal had complained to the District Council. It is alleged that this five-storey building was built without design.
On the basis of his complaint, on June 30, South 24 Parganas Administration sent a notice to Abhishek Banerjee’s father and Lips and Bounds director Amit Banerjee. This property is also in the name of Lips and Bounds.
Notice was also sent to Sushant Mandal and Matiur Rehman Mallik. All the complainants and accused parties were asked to appear at 2 pm on July 15, but Amit Banerjee did not appear as per the notice.
Notice to Abhishek Banerjee’s father
After this, another notice was given to Amit Banerjee by the District Administration. It was said that the office would be demolished. Similarly, the work of demolishing Abhishek Banerjee’s five-storey office with bulldozers started from Saturday morning. The digital locker was demolished with a shovel. On Sunday morning, the bulldozer again reached Abhishek’s office. Cots, pillows and relief material were taken out one by one.
After vandalism in the office on Saturday, Abhishek Banerjee’s lawyer requested for urgent hearing on Sunday. This case was filed on behalf of Lips and Bounds. The hearing was scheduled in the court of Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary at 12 noon, but the hearing could not start on time, because no lawyer from the state was initially present, hence the hearing could not start.
High Court bans bulldozer action
Justice Raja Basu Chaudhary said that another notice should be issued to the state. Earlier, notice of hearing of the case was not issued. The notice was given some time ago. In such a situation, the copy of the case should be given again to the state. Hearing is not possible without the statement of the state.
After this, state lawyer Nilanjan Bhattacharya appeared virtually. He said that time should be given to debate the case. The District Magistrate will have to give information about the case. The judge said that the court would meet again at 1:30 pm. There will be a hearing at that time. After that, in the hearing, demolition of Abhishek Banerjee’s office was banned.
