The GPS system of the RAF plane flying with British Defense Minister John Healey got jammed near the Russian border. According to the report, this problem persisted during the entire three-hour flight. It is believed that Russia may be behind this. This incident happened when John Healy was returning to Britain from a tour of Estonia. He had gone to meet the British soldiers stationed there. During his return, his plane passed near the Russian border and then the GPS system of the plane stopped working.
According to the report, the mobile phones and laptops present in the plane were also not able to connect to the internet. After GPS stopped, pilots had to use another navigation system. However, the passengers were told that the plane was completely safe and the flight could continue.
John was aboard the Royal Air Force plane
John Healy was traveling in a Dassault Falcon 900LX aircraft of the Royal Air Force RAF. Some journalists and photographers were also present with him in the plane. It is not yet clear whether this attack was specifically targeted at the Defense Minister or not. However, the location of the plane was visible on public flight tracking websites.
A day earlier Russia had stopped the RAF plane
A day before this incident, Britain’s Defense Ministry had said that last month, Russian fighter planes had dangerously intercepted an RAF spy plane several times over the Black Sea. According to the ministry, Russia’s Su-35 fighter jet flew so close to the British plane that the plane’s emergency system was activated and the autopilot was switched off.
At the same time, a Russian Su-27 aircraft reached just 6 meters near the British Rivet Joint aircraft and flew in front of it six times. Britain has described this as Russia’s most dangerous action after 2022. Rivet Joint is a spy plane, which keeps an eye on Russian activities as part of NATO mission.
