Once again discussions about a major political reshuffle in Maharashtra politics have gained momentum. According to political sources, keeping in mind the upcoming delimitation process and future electoral equations, efforts to re-unite between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have intensified. However, the most discussed among these discussions is that the role of Sunetra Pawar and Parth Pawar can be limited in the possible new political equation.
At present these claims have not been officially confirmed at any level. Sources say that communication between the two groups has increased in the last few months.
It is being told that Ajit Pawar The group’s state president and MP Sunil Tatkare had met Sharad Pawar in this regard, after which an important meeting was held at the Mumbai residence of senior leader Praful Patel, in which Supriya Sule and Jayant Patil are also said to be present. In political circles, these meetings are being seen as a step towards restoring trust between the two groups and possible merger.
Dissatisfaction with the working style of Sunetra and Parth.
According to sources, there is dissatisfaction among some senior leaders, ministers and MLAs of Ajit Pawar group about the working style of Sunetra Pawar and Parth Pawar.
It is being claimed that many leaders believe that the increasing interference of other family members in the organizational and political decisions of the party has increased the uneasiness among the workers and public representatives. For this reason, there is a discussion going on to keep both of them away from active role in the event of a possible merger. However, no leader has given any public statement in this regard.
Political experts believe that after delimitation, the political mathematics of many Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in the state may change. In such a situation, in view of the scattered opposition and changing electoral equations, the possibility of both the NCP factions coming on one platform is being seriously considered.
Speculations about merger of NCP intensifies again
An attempt to end the confusion created among the voters after the split between Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress is being considered as a major reason behind this initiative.
Sources also claim that in view of the upcoming local body elections and future assembly elections, emphasis is being laid on organizational unity within the party. Many leaders believe that if elections are fought in different groups, there may be political loss, whereas the organization may benefit by contesting elections unitedly.
However, till now neither the Sharad Pawar faction nor the Ajit Pawar faction has issued any official statement regarding the possible merger, agenda of the meetings or the role of Sunetra Pawar and Parth Pawar. In such a situation, at present this entire incident is limited to political sources and discussions. In the coming days, the entire Maharashtra will keep an eye on the political activities and official reactions of both the groups.
