The glory of Indian films was seen in the ‘New York Indian Film Festival’ 2026 held in America. This festival ran from 28 to 31 May, where many excellent films from different languages were shown. This time the most talked about Manipuri film ‘Boong’ was. This film created history by winning the famous BAFTA award in February this year. Now ‘Boong’ did wonders in this festival too and won three big awards simultaneously.
The film received the ‘Best Debut Film’ award. Along with this, Lakshmipriya Devi received the ‘Best Director’ award and the film’s child actor Gugun Kipgen received the ‘Best Child Actor’ award.
Many other films also showed strength
Many other films also left their mark in the ceremony. While ‘Baksho Bondi’ was chosen as the ‘Best Film’ of this year, Nikhil Yadav got the Best Actor award for the film ‘Vimukt’ and Meenakshi Jayan got the Best Actress award for ‘Victoria’. Apart from this, Nikhil Mahajan and Prajakt Deshmukh were given the Best Story Award for the film ‘Tighi’. Apart from this, in the documentary list, ‘Déjà Vu’ was chosen as the best feature and ‘Y’ was chosen as the best short documentary.

Indo-American Arts Council i.e. IAAC organizes this award night every year. Cinema lovers from all over the world participated enthusiastically in this festival. Festival Director Aseem Chhabra said that this year’s films reflect the depth and diversity of the stories of today’s India, which are touching the hearts of people globally.
