There was a suicide attack on a camp of Pakistan Coast Guard located in Jiwani area of Gwadar district of Balochistan province of Pakistan on Friday evening. Banned militant organization Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack and claimed that more than 30 Pakistani security personnel were killed in it, while many others were injured. However, Pakistan’s army and government have not yet officially confirmed these claims.
According to the report of Balochistan Post, this suicide attack took place at around 6:32 pm on Friday evening. This was carried out by BLA’s special unit Majeed Brigade. The BLA claimed that a suicide bomber named Attaullah Baloch alias Ajmal drove a Mazda truck loaded with explosives into the heavily guarded Dhe Coast Guard Camp at around 6:32 pm local time, causing a massive explosion. The explosion spread panic in the entire area and caused huge damage to the camp.
‘Camp turned into debris’
BLA spokesperson Zeyand Baloch issued a statement claiming that the entire fort-like camp of the Coast Guard was reduced to debris due to the powerful explosion. The organization’s media wing Haqqal also released a 43-second video, which claimed that a truck loaded with explosives was entering the camp just before the blast. The group said footage that emerged later showed that a large part of the military camp was destroyed.
More than 30 security personnel died
According to the BLA, immediately after the suicide blast, its Fateh Squad launched a coordinated ground attack on the camp from all sides. The organization claims that its fighters fought one-on-one with the remaining security personnel and killed more than 30 security personnel during the operation. BLA spokesperson says that considering the serious condition of the injured and the personnel trapped under the debris, the death toll may increase.
BLA warned to continue the struggle
The BLA said it would soon release detailed details of the attack through its official channels. The banned organization also said that its armed campaign against Pakistani security forces will continue with the same intensity until it achieves complete independence of Balochistan.
Pakistan government maintained silence
After this attack, no official statement has been issued yet by Pakistan’s army and government. Neither the claims of casualties made by the BLA have been confirmed nor have any official details of the damage caused to the camp emerged.
