June 12, 2026 by Uma Shankar

NDA ally and Rashtriya Lok Morcha Party President Upendra Kushwaha has suffered a setback from BJP. NDA did not send his son Deepak Prakash, a minister in Bihar government, to the Legislative Council. That means Deepak Prakash is not a member of any house right now. In such a situation, there is suspense over his continuing as a minister. However, BJP sources say that a minister can remain a minister for six months even without becoming a member of any House.

Although Upendra Kushwaha He has no other option but to remain in NDA. This is the reason why he participated in the NDA meeting in Delhi on Wednesday.

According to sources, BJP had offered Upendra Kushwaha to merge his party with BJP before the Legislative Council elections, but he refused to merge the party with BJP. Later BJP also proposed that it is ready to send his son to the Legislative Council on its ticket. But Upendra Kushwaha was not ready for this either, because if he won on BJP ticket, his sons would have become members of BJP, which Kushwaha does not want because he has to preserve the existence of his party.

Upendra Kushwaha accused of nepotism

Upendra Kushwaha was accused of nepotism by his own party MLAs. Four of his MLAs had won in the Bihar Assembly elections, one of whom is his wife, but later he made his son a minister in the Bihar government, who is not a member of any house. Three MLAs of his party got angry due to making his son a minister.

Now Upendra Kushwaha is reminding the agreement made with BJP before the assembly elections, in which it was decided that Rashtriya Lok Morcha would be given six seats and BJP would also get one seat in the Bihar Legislative Council.

Deepak Prakash’s ministerial post in danger

However, BJP has sent Upendra Kushwaha to Rajya Sabha only because of its MLAs. In such a situation, party leaders are also asking why a party of only four MLAs should be given one Rajya Sabha and one Legislative Council seat?

BJP leaders also argue that by making Samrat Chaudhary the Chief Minister, BJP has given a big political message and representation to the Kushwaha community. Although next year 12 persons are to be nominated to the Legislative Council in Bihar by the Governor, but there is still time for that. In such a situation, the question is whether Deepak Prakash’s ministerial post will remain intact till then?
