BJP MP Ravi Kishan gets relief from HC, protection in personality rights, order to remove content in 72 hours

July 6, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Delhi High Court, protecting the personality rights of actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Kishan, has ordered immediate removal of unauthorized content from social media. The court has also banned the publication of defamatory or obscene material and directed companies like social media platforms Google, Meta and X Corp to remove related web links within 72 hours.

Justice Jyoti Singh has banned the publication of any kind of wrong or obscene thing using Ravi Kishan’s image or mentioning his personality. Besides, instructions were also given to social media intermediaries Google, Meta and

commercial use without consent

The Delhi High Court passed an interim order in a suit filed by Ravi Kishan, seeking protection of his personality rights and directions against the dissemination of AI-generated obscene and defamatory content on websites and social media.

Other content featured by Ravi Kishan was a radio segment titled ‘What is Love with Kavi Kishan’ on Ishq 104.8 FM. He argued that the segment violated his rights by using his name, image and likeness for commercial purposes without his consent.

Next hearing in court on October 15

The actor and MP said in his complaint that an AI-generated video featuring his fake image can also be found on the official Instagram account of Ishq FM. The court has now issued an injunction order against Creative Channel Advertising and Marketing Private Limited, the owner of Ishq 104.8 FM, also known as Manoranjan TV Network.

The interim order to remove content found to be infringing on the personality rights of Ravi Kishan also applies to several other parties, including John Does (unidentified person), found uploading such content. Delhi High Court will hold the next hearing in this case on October 15.
