
Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting in Bikaner, Rajasthan on Tuesday night to review the security issues related to the India-Pakistan International Border (IPB). In the meeting, he also directed that zero tolerance policy should be adopted against any illegal construction work taking place within a radius of 15 kilometers on the international border. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, senior officials of the state government and the District Collector and Superintendent of Police of 5 districts bordering the border also participated in this important meeting.
The main objective of the meeting was to prepare a 360 degree security model for the border districts of the state, in which coordinated participation of common citizens, state government agencies and security forces will be ensured. Home Minister Shah also directed that zero tolerance policy should be adopted against illegal constructions within a radius of 15 kilometers from the international border. He also directed to identify all such illegal constructions and demolish them immediately.
Focus on coordinated strategy regarding border management
In this important meeting held in Bikaner, special emphasis was laid on coordinated strategy regarding border management. In this, effective control on infiltration, encroachment, narcotics smuggling, terror financing and other cross-border crimes was planned by creating better coordination between the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and state government agencies.
The Home Minister termed the role of District Magistrates of border districts more important. He entrusted these officers with additional responsibilities of monitoring the legal and financial activities of banks, verification of large business establishments, investigation of funding sources, identification of mule accounts and fake companies, investigation of fake Aadhaar cards and control of smuggling.
In the meeting, emphasis was also laid on maximum use of 1930 helpline for effective action on cyber crimes and effective implementation of 3 new criminal laws implemented in the country. The Modi government believes that national security can be further strengthened with the joint efforts of security agencies, administration and local citizens in the border areas.
Demolish illegal constructions like Seemanchal in Bihar
Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah had held a similar meeting and given instructions to demolish illegal construction in Seemanchal area of Bihar. According to experts, following the instructions of the Home Minister, more than 1 lakh 22 thousand illegal constructions have been demolished in 7 districts of Seemanchal. Not only this, the registry of high value land in the Seemanchal area during the last few years is being scrutinized.
The exercise behind this is to strengthen the security of the border areas of the country, to crack down on infiltration and illegal smuggling. In this sequence, its effect will start being visible on the borders of Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tripura and West Bengal.
