
The state’s Health Minister Nishant Kumar saw the condition of Bihar’s health care with his own eyes. On Tuesday (June 23), he reached Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for a surprise inspection. During this, he inaugurated the Radiology Department located on the first floor of the newly constructed Tower-3 and reviewed various facilities available for the patients.
Due to the arrival of the Health Minister, there was chaos in the hospital and doctors, nurses and staff were seen running here and there. It is being told that during the inspection, the Principal was found absent, on which the Minister expressed displeasure and indicated to take action. Along with this, he also talked about checking the availability of medicines in the medicine department.
The principal did not pick up the phone
According to the information, PMCH Principal Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh was also found absent during the inspection. Nishant Kumar called the principal for a meeting but he did not receive the call. Nishant Kumar expressed his displeasure on this and said that action would be taken against the principal. The minister said that the principal is not even picking up the phone and has not given charge to any other officer in his place.
Minister talked to people in PMCH
During this time, Nishant stayed in PMCH for a long time and talked to the people and listened to their complaints. Patients said, Rs 1500 has been charged for x ray. Brokers are taking money for everything in PMCH. People said that medicines are not provided and money is demanded. While one person allegedly complained about nursing services. The minister immediately sought clarification regarding the complaint from the nursing staff concerned.
Instructions to hospital officials
The Health Minister directed the hospital officials to immediately report any problem or deficiency in the institution. He emphasized that providing quality treatment and better health facilities to patients is the top priority of the government. He also warned that negligence will not be tolerated at any level.
Nishant Kumar reviewed the ongoing construction and modernization works in PMCH and directed the officials to complete the pending projects within the stipulated time frame while maintaining the quality standards. PMCH is currently undergoing massive redevelopment and expansion of infrastructure with over 5,500 beds to improve healthcare services.
