
BJP MLA from Sahibganj, Bihar, Raju Kumar Singh has got a shock. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday convicted him of culpable homicide and under the Arms Act. The court has ordered to take him into immediate custody. His wife and two other people have been acquitted of all charges.
Special Judge MP-MLA Vishal Gogane has set the date of June 9 to decide the punishment under Section 304 Part-2 IPC and Section 30 of the Arms Act. The court acquitted Raju Singh’s wife Renu Singh and two other accused Rana Rajesh Singh and Ramendra Singh of all charges.
This is a case of 2018
Actually, this case pertains to the New Year party organized on the night of 31 December 2018 at Rose Farm House in Mandi village, Delhi. Where complainant Vikas Gupta had reached with his wife Archana Gupta and daughter. According to Vikas, Archana was dancing on the DJ floor at the New Year party at around 12 o’clock in the night. Meanwhile, MLA Raju Singh and his security personnel Hari Singh were firing in the air.
Died on 3 January 2019
Vikas says that after a few minutes Raju Singh opened fire again. Soon after this his wife Archana suddenly collapsed. After this he immediately ran towards his wife. There was blood on her face and she was unconscious. After this, Archana was taken to the hospital with the help of people. Where he died during treatment at AIIMS on 3 January 2019. Post mortem confirmed death due to gunshot to the head.

On January 1, 2019, an FIR was registered at Fatehpur Beri police station. Initially sections 307, 201, 34 IPC and 27 Arms Act were imposed. Later after Archana’s death it was changed to 302 IPC. During investigation, it was found that an attempt was made to clean the blood stains present at the scene. Police recovered used cartridges of .22 bore from the spot. Apart from this, weapons and live cartridges were also recovered from the house of Raju Kumar Singh. Whereas .315 bore rifle and cartridges were recovered from Hari Singh’s house.
The accused fled from the spot
Investigation also revealed that Raju Kumar Singh and his driver Hari Singh had fled from the spot after the incident. Both were arrested on January 2, 2019 from Fazilnagar area of Uttar Pradesh. A .22 bore pistol and live cartridges were recovered from the possession of Raju Singh. The car in which he was also confiscated. Driver Hari Singh later died.

In the post-mortem conducted at Delhi’s AIIMS hospital, doctors clarified that the woman died due to serious injury caused by a bullet to the head. After this, the investigating agencies took the case forward as a serious crime related to murder.
Punishment announced on June 9
In October 2023, the special court, while rejecting the discharge petition of the accused, had framed charges against Raju Kumar Singh under Section 304 (Part-2) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 30 of the Arms Act. Charges related to destruction of evidence were leveled against other accused. Now special judge Vishal Gogane, while giving the verdict in the case, has convicted Raju Kumar Singh. The court will hold the final hearing on the punishment of the guilty MLA on June 9.
