June 17, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release incentives worth about ₹ 2,400 crore on June 19 under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rojgar Yojana’. Employees getting jobs for the first time will get an incentive of up to ₹ 15,000. To encourage continued employment generation, employers will be eligible for an incentive of up to ₹3,000 per month for each additional employee.

Prime Minister Modi will distribute incentives worth about ₹2,400 crore under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Vikas Bharat Rozgar Yojana’ (PM-VBRY) at a special event to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on June 19, 2026, at 5:00 pm. This distribution is an important milestone in the implementation of PM-VBRY.

PM-VBRY is a major employment-related incentive scheme of the Government of India, whose objective is to create new employment opportunities in all sectors, formalize employment, increase people’s ability to get employment and increase the scope of social security. Through this scheme, 15 lakh employment opportunities have already been created across the country.

What is the purpose of PM-VBRY scheme?

The objective of the PM-VBRY scheme is to encourage both employees and employers to join the formal economy. Under this scheme, first-time employees get an incentive of up to ₹15,000, which helps them a lot in joining the workforce. Employers who create additional employment receive an incentive of up to ₹3,000 per month per additional employee, thereby promoting sustainable employment generation.

Employees can avail incentive for two years

Additionally, considering the strategic importance of manufacturing in driving economic growth, employers in the manufacturing sector are eligible to avail incentives for a period of four years, while employees in all other sectors can avail incentives for two years. The scheme reflects the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for employment-led growth and ensuring that the benefits of India’s economic growth translate into quality formal employment opportunities for the youth.
