
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken major action against Pakistan-based terrorist and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader Hafiz Saeed in the case of terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. NIA has made Hafiz Saeed an accused in its supplementary charge sheet filed in the special court on Monday. The NIA has named Hafiz Saeed in the charge sheet for his personal role as well as his role as the chief of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy organization The Resistance Front (TRF).
The investigating agency has charged Hafiz Saeed under several sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), 2023 and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967. Charges of waging war against India and hatching a terrorist conspiracy with Pakistan have also been included in the charge sheet. According to NIA, this supplementary charge sheet was filed first. This is an expansion of the original chargesheet of 1,597 pages. It gives a detailed description of Pakistan’s conspiracy, the role of Hafiz Saeed and the scientific and technical evidence collected during the investigation.

Attempt to collect evidence of terrorist network
Earlier, in the charge sheet filed on December 15, 2025, NIA had also accused Pakistan’s terrorist handler Sajid Jatt, three terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev, two arrested accused and banned terrorist organization LeT/TRF. On April 22, 2025, Pakistan-backed terrorists attacked people on the basis of religion in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
25 tourists and one local citizen were killed in this attack. This case started after the FIR was registered in Pahalgam police station. The initial investigation was done by Jammu and Kashmir Police, after which the Union Home Ministry handed over the case to NIA. NIA says that the investigation of the case is still going on and evidence is being collected to expose the entire terrorist network operating from Pakistan and all aspects of the conspiracy.
