Even though the re-examination of NEET was conducted peacefully, a big conspiracy of irregularities in the examination has been revealed in Lakhisarai, Bihar. Police and administrative officials have busted a solver gang, which was planning to make fake students appear in the examination in place of real students. A total of 24 people have been arrested after the action taken at three examination centers of Lakhisarai.
These include nine so-called “solvers” and 18 employees associated with the biometric agency. Initial investigation has revealed that a deal worth ₹30 to ₹40 lakh was fixed to include fake candidates in the examination. Many students studying medicine are included among those arrested.
These include Saurabh Jha (AIMS Rae Bareli), Sanjeet (NMCH Patna), Mayank Kashyap (PMCH), Poonam Kumari (nursing student at BHU) and Aman Aggarwal, a student of a medical college in Uttar Pradesh. According to the investigating agencies, this entire network was being operated by Arpit, a student of Gaya Medical College. Arpit’s name also surfaced in connection with the high-profile 2024 NEET paper leak case.
How was Solver Gang exposed?
This entire scheme was exposed due to the alertness of a supervisor posted at the examination centre. The supervisor became suspicious after seeing some candidates during the examination. Upon investigation, it was found that the faces of some students did not match the photographs on their identity documents. Apart from this, nervousness was visible in the body language and behavior of many doubtful candidates. As the suspicion deepened, the process of re-investigation was started at the centre. After this, many accused were taken into custody and interrogated.
Biometric agency employees also in the gang
During the interrogation, the role of the employees of the biometric agency came to light. As the investigation progressed, links between the accused were established and gradually the entire network was exposed. Officials said that without the connivance of the biometric agency, carrying out such a conspiracy would not have been possible.
What did the officer say?
ADG (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar said that nine people associated with ‘Solver Gang’ and 18 employees of the biometric company have been arrested. At the same time, SDM Prabhakar Kumar has also raised serious questions on the role of biometric agency. The police are currently investigating the entire network and trying to find out whether this racket had reach to states outside Bihar as well.
