
Taking a major administrative decision in the Defense Ministry, the Central Government has handed over the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) and DRDO Chairman to Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. According to the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), this responsibility will be effective after the completion of the tenure of Dr. Sameer V. Kamat on 31 May 2026.
Rajesh Kumar Singh is a 1989 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre. Presently working on the post of Defense Secretary. He has been given this additional responsibility until his regular appointment or until further orders. This decision of the government is being considered important from the point of view of defense research and military modernization. DRDO plays an important role in the development of the country’s missiles, radar, combat technology and defense systems.
Ajay Kochhar takes charge as 48th Vice Chief of the Navy
Information about the order has been sent to the Cabinet Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, President’s Secretariat and all the central ministries. On the other hand, Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, PVSM, AVSM, NM took charge as the 48th Vice Chief of the Navy today. On this occasion, the Flag Officer laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in Delhi and paid heartfelt tribute to the brave sons who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, an alumnus of the prestigious National Defense Academy, Pune, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1988. As an expert in artillery and missile systems, he held various command, operational and staff responsibilities during his illustrious naval career spanning over 37 years.
Has also taken command of INS Vikramaditya
He has commanded naval ships Nashak, Vibhuti and Kirpan. He has also been the Commissioning Commanding Officer of Trikand Frigate. The flag officer has also commanded the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. During his tenure the aircraft carrier successfully completed the integration and operationalization of its air wing.
