Big change in fire safety rules in Delhi, now third party will also be able to give certificate

Delhi Government has made some new changes in the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010. The name of these new rules will be Delhi Fire Service (Amendment) Rules, 2025. Most of the new rules will come into effect immediately from the date of publication in the Government Gazette, but changes related to Rules 34, 35, 36, 37, 38 and the First and Seventh Schedule will come into effect after 90 days.

The applications which are already pending will be decided as per the same old rules which were applicable at the time of submission of the application i.e. the new rules will not be applicable to the old pending cases.

Now fire A new definition of safety auditor has been added. This means a person, company or agency which will conduct fire safety investigation as a third party. Earlier, fire safety certificate was issued only by Delhi Fire Service. Now this certificate can also be issued by authorized fire safety auditors.

Will be divided into five or more zones

Now in place of the National Building Code 2005, the National Building Code of India updated from time to time will be considered applicable. This will include new standards of fire and life safety. New fire zones will be created in Delhi. Delhi can be divided into 5 or more fire zones according to the need of the work.

Their names will be:

  • Central Zone
  • East Zone
  • West Zone
  • North Zone
  • South Zone

If necessary, the government can also create new zones. The purpose of these changes is to make the fire safety system more modern, systematic and faster, so that the process of fire safety inspection and certification can be easier.
