Big change in EPFO 3.0! Now not only 75% but in these circumstances you will be able to withdraw full PF

June 21, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Under EPFO 3.0, Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is preparing to bring many new and easy facilities for its members. Among these, the most talked about announcement is that EPF account holders have been allowed to withdraw up to 75% of their PF balance immediately at any time.

However, after this announcement, a question is arising in the minds of many people whether the facility of 100% PF withdrawal will still continue like before or not.

Is 100% PF withdrawal allowed in EPFO 3.0?

Yes, EPFO had clarified in a statement issued on October 15, 2025 that 75% of the eligible amount can be withdrawn at any time without any documents, while in special circumstances, the facility to withdraw the entire 100% amount will also continue.

What do the current rules say?

At present, under certain circumstances, EPF members can withdraw the entire amount from their account. These include situations like natural disaster, epidemic, company lockout, unemployment.

But for this the member has to explain the reason for withdrawal and also submit the relevant documents. Many times claims were rejected because the reason given did not fall within the accepted categories of EPFO.

Under what circumstances is 100% PF withdrawal possible?

1. The company is closed for more than 15 days and the employee is not getting salary.

Condition: The employee is unemployed and is not receiving any compensation.
Document: Certificate issued by the employer (Form A and B).

2. There is a pending case in the court in case of dismissal or retrenchment.

Document: Copy of the petition filed in the court and the certificate of the member.

3. The company is closed for more than 6 months and the employees are unemployed

Document: Employer’s Certificate (Form A and B).

4. To treat yourself or a family member

Document: Certificate signed by the employer and the doctor (Certificate C).

What has changed in the new rule?

The biggest change of EPFO 3.0 is that in the special circumstances mentioned above, now the member will not be required to give the reason for withdrawal.

According to the government notification dated October 13, 2025, earlier for partial withdrawal under special circumstances, the member had to mention reasons like natural disaster, unemployment, epidemic, closure of the company. For this reason many applications were rejected.

Now members will be able to apply in this category without giving any reason. This will reduce the chances of claims being rejected and account holders will get easy access to their money.

What does the New Testament mean?

In simple words, the facility of 100% PF withdrawal has not ended. EPFO 3.0 has only simplified the process. Now, along with the facility to withdraw 75% of the amount immediately, the option to withdraw the entire amount in special circumstances will also be available like before.
