Nvidia, one of the world’s largest chip companies in the race of Artificial Intelligence, has introduced its new RTX Spark chip for personal computers. The company claims that this chip will usher in a new era of AI-based computing and will make the computer not just a tool but a digital companion of the user. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced this chip before the Computex technology show held in Taiwan. The new RTX Spark chip will soon be included in many Windows PCs. This includes big brands like Lenovo, HP, Dell, Microsoft Surface, Asus and MSI. The company believes that this launch can bring a big change in the personal AI computing market.
RTX Spark ready for the era of AI agents
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described RTX Spark as “the superchip of the era of AI agents.” According to the company, this new chip will power computers that will not only follow orders but will also be able to work together with the user. Nvidia says that just as mobile phones were transformed into smartphones, similarly computers are also going to be completely transformed with the help of AI. The main focus of RTX Spark is to run personal AI agents on local devices, giving users a faster and smarter experience. This technology is believed to decide the direction of the future AI PC market.
New chips will be available in PCs of many big brands
The new RTX Spark chip will be used by major brands like Lenovo, HP, Dell, Microsoft Surface, Asus and MSI in their upcoming Windows PCs. Sales of these devices are expected to begin during autumn this year, while models from Acer and Gigabyte will hit the market later. With this move, Nvidia no longer wants to be limited to just data center and server chips, but is directly trying to strengthen its presence in the consumer PC market. This may create new competition for companies like Apple and Intel. Currently, the combined share of Lenovo, HP, Dell and Apple in the PC market is about 75 percent.
Keep an eye on AI market amid crackdown on China
The announcement of the RTX Spark chip comes at a time when the US has tightened rules on the sale of cutting-edge AI chips to China. The US Commerce Department has clarified that foreign affiliate units of Chinese companies will also need a license to export advanced AI technology. America has long been trying to limit China’s AI capabilities so as to reduce its access to cutting-edge technology. On the other hand, Nvidia is continuously strengthening its hold in the AI market. Due to the increasing demand for AI data centers, the company has become one of the most valuable companies in the world and its market value has reached more than 5 trillion dollars.
