
If you are a woman and travel in Delhi Government’s DTC bus, then get a pink smart card made as soon as possible. Because Delhi government may stop pink tickets in July. That means, now it will be mandatory to have Pink Smart Card for free travel. The Delhi government claims that the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has achieved a major milestone by issuing more than 10 lakh ‘Pink Saheli National Common Mobility Cards’ (NCMC) within 90 days of its launch. This is one of the efforts to implement digital mobility on a large scale at the fastest pace in the country.
Talking to TV9 Bharatvarsha, Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh said that there are approximately 14 lakh women passengers in Delhi. Out of which more than 10 lakh pink smart cards have been made. Pankaj Singh said that the Delhi government may soon review and discontinue the existing pink ticket. Because the government has completed the target of Pink Smart Card. Very soon, cards will also be made for the remaining women.
New EV policy will come soon
Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh said that Delhi’s new EV policy will also come soon. Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said that in line with the broader vision of citizen-centric governance espoused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is committed to providing better and more transparent mobility services to the people of Delhi. Speaking during the event, Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said that the teams of Transport Department and DTC worked diligently from the beginning to successfully implement this initiative. It is a matter of great satisfaction to cross the 10 lakh mark in such a short time. The biggest happiness is that this facility has reached our mothers and sisters. It’s not just a travel card; This is a step towards convenience, empowerment and integrated mobility.
Pankaj Singh said that Pink Saheli Card gives many benefits apart from free bus travel. Based on the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework, the card can be recharged and used across Delhi Metro, RRTS and other NCMC-enabled systems, creating a truly integrated mobility experience for women commuters.
11 thousand cards are being made daily
The minister said that about 73 distribution centers across Delhi are currently issuing cards and about 11,000 cards are being issued daily. He further said that if the demand increases, the government is ready to further increase the reach and capacity. Our priority is clear that every eligible woman who wants to avail this facility should get the card. If demand exceeds expectations, we are fully prepared to expand. DTC has adequate staff, systems and operational readiness to support comprehensive coverage.
Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh further emphasized that digital transformation will help in better public transport planning and governance. The data and systems generated through this initiative will contribute to evidence-based decision making aimed at better bus deployment, route optimization, last-mile connectivity and improving mobility access across Delhi.
During the event, DTC also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airavata Research Foundation (ARF) of IIT Kanpur for operation, maintenance and promotion of Delhi Transport Stack and One Delhi App. According to the Delhi government, this collaboration will strengthen Delhi’s digital public transport ecosystem by supporting key platforms such as One Delhi App, ONDC-based bus ticketing and other passenger services through advanced technology, artificial intelligence and data analytics.
DTC aims to further strengthen the system
Describing this partnership as an important step towards institutionalizing transport technology management, the Transport Minister said that the combination of technology and public service will help create a stronger and more reliable mobility ecosystem for Delhi. Our endeavor is to make DTC’s digital systems more robust, professional and future-ready through technology, better connectivity and modern management practices. This partnership will improve passenger experience, strengthen service reliability and support a smarter public transport plan for Delhi.
The Minister further said that the Delhi Government is committed to implementing citizen-centric transport reforms and modern mobility solutions to improve ease of travel and delivery of public services for the people of Delhi. Delhi Government had launched ‘Pink Saheli NCMC Card’ on 2 March 2026. It was launched to provide women passengers in Delhi a modern, digital and hassle-free means of free travel in DTC buses. The Delhi government claims that this initiative, based on the framework of the ‘National Common Mobility Card’ (NCMC), further strengthens the Delhi government’s commitment towards accessible, technology-enabled and passenger-friendly public transport.
