
In the Haridwar Municipal Corporation land purchase case, it has been recommended to dismiss the then Municipal Commissioner Haridwar Municipal Corporation Varun Chaudhary from service with immediate effect. Along with this, it has also been decided to take strict action against the then District Magistrate Haridwar Karmendra Singh by considering him guilty of serious negligence in proper discharge of his official responsibilities and duties.
A recommendation has been sent to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for action against both the officers as per rules. Apart from this, instructions have also been given to register a censure entry against the then working SDM Ajayveer Singh and to stop his three increments.
In-depth investigation through audit
It is noteworthy that as soon as the Haridwar Municipal Corporation land purchase issue came to light, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Had adopted a tough stance. Several officials, including the then District Magistrate Karmendra Singh and former Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary, were suspended after the preliminary investigation indicated irregularities. After this, the entire matter was thoroughly investigated through special investigation and audit.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has clearly said that no compromise will be made at any level in corruption cases. He reiterated that transparency, accountability and public interest are paramount in governance and strictest action will be taken against officers found guilty.
The biggest administrative action so far
This action of the Dhami government is being considered as one of the biggest administrative actions ever taken against corruption in the state, which has given a clear message that misuse of public money and misuse of position will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
