In the Bhojshala case located in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, the Muslim side challenged the decision of the MP High Court in the Supreme Court. Recently, in its decision, the MP High Court had said that the disputed Bhojshala complex located in Dhar district of the state is a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.
The Hindu community considers Bhojshala as the temple of Goddess Saraswati, while the Muslim community calls it Kamal Maula Masjid. This disputed complex located in Dhar district is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The May 15 order of the High Court has been challenged in the appeal filed by the mosque’s caretaker Qazi Moinuddin.
The High Court had said in its decision that the disputed Bhojshala complex is a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Center and ASI can take any decision on its administration and management. The High Court also quashed the ASI’s order of April 7, 2003, in which Muslims were allowed to offer namaz every Friday inside the Bhojshala premises.
The High Court bench hearing the case also said in its decision that the Muslim community can approach the Madhya Pradesh government for separate land in the district to build a mosque.
