Government sources say that this is not only a serious threat to security, but this kind of malicious behavior is not seen in mature democracies. We should also not forget what happened in our neighboring countries, when such protests were targeted at the residences of leaders.
Government sources on Tuesday Congress Strongly criticized when senior party leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra protested outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence in New Delhi. He described the demonstration as a serious security concern and accused the opposition of setting a “wrong and dangerous precedent”.
Such malicious behavior is not seen in mature democracies
Sources said protests targeting politicians’ homes are “unheard of in a mature democracy” and warned that such actions could pose a security threat and undermine democratic norms.
The comments came after Congress leaders marched towards Lok Kalyan Marg, demanding accountability over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and police action on students protesting over the issue a day earlier.
Concern about security
Government sources said the Congress protest outside the Prime Minister’s house crossed a limit and raised serious security concerns. Government sources said, “Congress has set a very wrong and dangerous example by protesting outside the Prime Minister’s house. This is not only a threat to security, but this kind of bad behavior is not seen in a mature democracy.”
Sources also warned against demonstrations at the homes of political leaders. Sources further said, “We should also not forget what happened in our neighborhood when such demonstrations targeted the houses of leaders.”
Rahul and Priyanka taken into custody
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav were taken into custody by Delhi Police while leading the protest. The police dispersed the protesters after they marched from Rajaji Marg towards the Prime Minister’s residence. Reacting to the police action, Priyanka Gandhi said, “They are cowards. They are scared. We are not afraid of them. They are afraid of us.”
