July 19, 2026 by Uma Shankar

If you have any important bank related work this week, then definitely check the list of bank holidays before leaving home. According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks may remain closed for a maximum of three days in different parts of the country this week. This includes all government and private banks including SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB).

On July 19 (Sunday), all bank branches are closed across the country, because public transactions do not take place in banks every Sunday. Apart from this, there will be a holiday in banks in Tripura on 22nd July (Wednesday) on the occasion of Kharchi Puja. Due to it being 25th July (fourth Saturday), bank branches will remain closed across the country. That means, if you live in a state where July 22 is also a holiday, then your bank branch may remain closed for three days this week.

These bank works will continue

The closure of bank branches does not mean that all banking services will stop. Customers will be able to use UPI, internet banking, mobile banking and ATM as before. Most of the facilities like sending money, paying bills, checking balance, making online payments and withdrawing cash will be available as usual.

According to RBI rules, all banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Apart from this, there is no work in bank branches every Sunday also. Therefore, customers are advised to deposit cheques, make drafts, update passbooks or complete other branch related important tasks well before the holiday.

List of Bank Holidays this week

19th July (Sunday) Weekly holiday across the country
July 22 (Wednesday) Banks closed due to Kharchi Puja in Tripura (Agartala)
Banks closed across the country on 25th July (fourth Saturday)

There is no holiday next week

There is no special bank holiday scheduled for any state till August 1 except next week 26th July (Sunday). On normal days, working hours for customers in banks are from 10 am to 4 pm. However, there may be slight variations in the timings of some branches at the local level. If you need banking services even on holidays, the bank’s mobile app, internet banking, UPI and ATM will be available 24 hours to help you. However, sometimes some digital services may be affected for a short period of time due to system maintenance. In such a situation, banks inform their customers in advance.
