BJP has made Abhishek Kumar its candidate for the by-election to be held on the Bankipur assembly seat vacant after the resignation of BJP national president Nitin Nabin. Abhishek Kumar has been the President of BJP Patna Metropolitan. Apart from this, he has also been the Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and has also been the Mandal President twice. Not only this, Abhishek Kumar has also held the post of BJP Mandal Minister and General Secretary and is an active social and political worker of Kayastha community.
Abhishek Kumar himself also comes from Kayastha community. Political analysts believe that by making him a candidate, on one hand BJP has tried to promote youth leadership and on the other hand it has tried to give a clear political message to the voters of Kayastha community. Since there is a significant number of Kayastha voters in Bankipur assembly constituency, this decision is being considered very important in terms of election strategy.

Jansuraj’s competition with Prashant Kishore
Abhishek Kumar, resident of Boring Road, Patna, will face Prashant Kishore, founder of Jansuraj Party. However, this seat is considered a stronghold of BJP, because Nitin Nabin had won from here in the 2025 assembly elections by securing 98,299 votes (63.25%). In such a situation, it becomes very important for Abhishek Kumar to win this seat, but it is believed that he may face tough competition from Prashant Kishore.
Impact of Kayastha community on Bankipur
Bankipur assembly constituency is considered to be one of the most popular and high-profile urban seats of Bihar. There are about 3.79 lakh voters in this seat, in which the Kayastha community has the most influence. This is the reason why it has been seen as a Kayastha dominated assembly constituency for a long time. This community is considered to play an important role in local political equations. Keeping this social equation in mind, BJP has continuously expressed confidence in the candidates of Kayastha community since 1995. First the party had fielded Naveen Kishore Sinha and later made his son Nitin Nabin its candidate.
