IND vs BAN Series: A big news has come out for the fans regarding the bilateral cricket series to be held between India and Bangladesh in the month of September. Due to the political tension between the two countries for some time, the clouds of crisis which were hovering over this tour are now gradually dissipating. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Security Committee Chairman Syed Ibrahim Ahmed made it clear that the board is fully prepared to host the Indian team in September and strict arrangements are being made for the security of the visiting team.
No stone will be left unturned in security
Speaking to reporters in Dhaka, BCB director Saeed Ibrahim, son of current Home Minister of Bangladesh Salahuddin Ahmed, said that security is always a big issue for big cricket teams. He assured that tight security arrangements are being prepared for the Indian team and it will be further enhanced if needed. Ibrahim said, ‘Security is always a matter of concern for every foreign touring team, especially for big cricket teams like India. We have not yet started official talks with BCCI, but we are hopeful that if this tour goes as per schedule, then no one will get a chance to complain. If needed, we will further increase the level of security.
Big signal received from the schedule of Sri Lanka tour
In recent times, due to tension in the relations between the two countries, the then Yunus government had withdrawn the name of its team from the last T20 World Cup held in India citing security reasons. Since then there was suspense over India going to Bangladesh. But, the absence of even a single T20 match in the schedule of India’s tour of Sri Lanka in August is a strong indication that the BCCI is agreeing to the series against Bangladesh in September.
Asia Cup will return to Bangladesh
Apart from the India series, Saeed Ibrahim made another big announcement and said that Bangladesh has geared up to host the Asia Cup 2027. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has sought information from BCB about the venue for organizing the ODI tournament. This tournament is to be played between 18 June next year and 4 July 2027. During this period, matches can be played in Mirpur, Chittagong and Sylhet. There is also talk of including Shaheed Chandu Stadium of Bogura, but that will be possible only when the work there is completed on time. Let us tell you, Bangladesh last hosted the Asia Cup in the year 2016. If the go-ahead to host the 2027 Asia Cup is given, it will be the first major tournament to be organized under the new Bangladesh Cricket Board headed by Tamim Iqbal.
