June 11, 2026 by Uma Shankar

BAN vs AUS 2nd ODI Match: The date of June 11, 2026 has been recorded in golden letters in the history of Bangladeshi cricket. At the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladeshi Lions did something which had never happened before in the history of cricket. Host Bangladesh defeated the 6-time world champion Australian team badly in the second ODI and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. This is the first time in the history of Bangladesh cricket that they have won a bilateral ODI series against Australia.

Bangladeshi bowlers wreaked havoc

After winning the toss and coming to bat first, the start of the Australian team was like a nightmare. Bangladeshi bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman wreaked havoc in the initial overs. The team lost its 3 big wickets without opening the account. Matt Short, Cooper Connolly and Matt Renshaw could not open their account. 65 runs Within no time, half of Australia’s team returned to the pavilion. However, Marnus Labuschagne tried to control the team by playing an unbeaten inning of 55 runs. There was also a reduction in overs in the match due to rain, due to which Australia scored 187 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 42 overs.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets each. Tanveer Islam also got 2 successes. The Australian giants were seen struggling against the precise line-length of these bowlers. Nahid Rana also bowled amazingly, but he could not take wickets.

Bangladesh chased the run easily

There was also rain disruption in the beginning of Bangladesh’s innings, due to which the target was reduced to 192 runs in 41 overs. During this, Tanjeed Hasan was out without opening the account. But Soumya Sarkar and Nazmul Hussain Shanto gave a solid start to the team by scoring 42-42 runs. Then Liton Das also scored 21 runs. After this, Tauheed Hridoy held one end and scored unbeaten 40 runs to take the team to victory. Mehdi Hasan Miraj also remained unbeaten after scoring 22 runs and returned to the pavilion after giving victory to the team. Bangladesh achieved this target by losing 5 wickets in 35 overs.
