Let us tell you that before the re-examination of NEET-UG 2026 to be held on June 21, the Central Government has banned the Telegram app till June 22. Telegram challenged this decision in the High Court.
The court asked this question to the center
Telegram’s petition was heard on Thursday. The court had reserved the decision. During the hearing, Justice Tejas Karia asked the central government’s counsel regarding the ban on Telegram before the NEET re-exam, how can we stop the rights of 150 million people just because some citizens are taking the exam? Can the voice of 15 crore users be suppressed for any examination?
The court asked senior advocate Dhruv Mehta, appearing for Telegram, that to understand your point, you are raising questions on the nature of power by saying that this is not an emergency. Second, you are saying that information can be blocked, not the entire platform.
After hearing lengthy arguments from Telegram and the central government, Justice Tejas Karia reserved his verdict on the platform’s plea challenging the blocking order issued under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
