Ayodhya: Strictness on counting of Ram temple offerings, new model started under the supervision of SBI

July 20, 2026 by Uma Shankar

A major change has been made in the counting system of cash offerings deposited in donation boxes in Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple located in Ayodhya. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has now started the process of counting cash in two shifts by implementing a new system under the supervision of State Bank of India SBI. According to sources, after testing for a week, the new system has been formally implemented from Sunday.

Under this, the responsibility of counting the offerings will be conducted under the supervision of SBI, so that the entire process remains more transparent and secure. According to the new system, a team of 10 to 12 members has been deployed in each shift. The first shift will count cash from 8 am to 2 pm and the second shift will count cash from 2 pm to 8 pm.

Four supervisors will also be deployed

After former in-charge Subhash Srivastava was sent to jail in the case of alleged theft of offerings, the trust has appointed Shobhanath Mishra as the new in-charge of cash counting. To further strengthen the monitoring of the entire process, four supervisors have also been deployed, including an ex-serviceman.

Responsibility handed over to the security in-charge of the trust

Trust security in-charge and former army officer Captain K.K. Tiwari has been entrusted with the responsibility of daily monitoring and reporting of the cash counting process. Apart from this, former defense personnel S.P. Dubey and Sheshmani Tiwari have also been given the responsibility of monitoring the counting process as representatives of the trust.

Know why the new system started

The new system for offerings in the Ram temple has been implemented at a time when allegations of irregularities in donations to the temple are being investigated. This matter came to light in the first week of June. After this, on June 13, the Uttar Pradesh government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate this matter. The SIT submitted its preliminary investigation report to the government on June 23. Based on this, the police registered an FIR on June 25 and started investigation.
